State-of-the-art

Idaho Milk Products’ new Research & Development facility includes a state-of-the-art processing area, instrumentation lab, product multipurpose room for product evaluations and conferencing. Our focus will include high volume segments for Ready-To-Drink (RTDs), yogurt and fermented dairy, fresh dairy, protein bars, Ready-To-Mix (RTMs), ice cream, bakery and cereal.

This addition gives our food scientists and food processing experts the opportunity to build custom applications, work on new product developments and continuous improvements, faster response times, and high levels of confidence and confidentiality, for existing and new customers.

Analytical capabilities

The list of equipment outlined below offers us the ability to take a large volume of data, analyze trends and produce results for our customers.

  • Stability analysis for emulsions, RTDs, & solubility and hydration of powders by LUMiSizer.
  • Particle size, polydispersity index and Zeta potential by Zeta Sizer Nano.
  • Graininess measurement.
  • Protein profiling by Experion (SDS-PAGE).
  • Textural and gel properties by TX Texture Analyzer.
  • Dynamic stress rheology by Anton Paar rheometer.
  • Sugars by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography.
  • Protein profiling by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography.
  • Water activity analysis.

Our R&D lab has the technology to develop and test RTDs, yogurts, RTMs, protein bars, retort beverages and high-protein ice cream, enhancing our capabilities to create prototypes based on our customer needs.
